Controluce combines the art of cinema with food, creating a unique experience where pizza, cocktails, and events come together. Honoring its past as a Cine–Teatro, the pizzeria celebrates cinema and theatre with a modern, refined touch.
Starring: A Blank canvas
The biggest challenge was creating a digital experience for a place that was still an open construction site when we first visited. So, we let our imagination travel back to the 1920s/1930s when the venue was originally opened as a modern Cine-Theater.
Our design process is rooted in the art of that period, drawing inspiration from historical photos and original cinema tickets to shape the website’s aesthetic. The result inherits the place’s rich history, evoking nostalgia while giving it a stylish and contemporary edge.
One ticket for Controluce
The website was designed to make an immediate impact, delivering a “wow” effect that transports people straight into the world of Controluce—warm, charming, and captivating from the very first bite, sparking an irresistible desire to book your first table.
We also coordinated various elements of the brand’s image, including short films, brand photography, event Polaroids, vinyl-only music sets, and printed menus for special nights, ensuring a cohesive and unforgettable experience both online and offline.
An open-ended story
We make sure that the online menu and cocktail list are always up to date, reflecting the place’s vibrant spirit. With each season, the chefs introduce new pizzas inspired by iconic cult films and Italy’s culinary traditions, while signature cocktails continue to raise the bar.
